JAKARTA – BERITATERKINI.co.id – Presiden Joko Widodo akan segera meresmikan Jembatan Holtekamp dengan panjang 733 meter di Papua.
Jembatan ini akan mempersingkat waktu tempuh dari Kota Jaya Pura menuju Skow, Distrik Muara Tami yang merupakan perbatasan RI-Papua Nugini.
Selain itu, dalam prosesnya jembatan ini menelan anggaran sampai Rp1,6 triliun.
Menteri Pekerjaan Umum dan Perumahan Rakyat (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono mengatakan bahwa jembatan ini sangat penting bagi perekonomian masyarakat setempat, terutama dalam mempercepat pengiriman logistik.
“Keberlanjutan kota Jayapura tergantung expand area jembatan ini yang menyambungkan Holtekamp. Tadinya muter bisa berjam-jam perjalanan. Ini bentuk pengembangan kota Jayapura ke arah timur. Ini jadi faktor strategis karena berdampingan dengan Papua Nugini,” kata Basuki di Jayapura, Papua, Sabtu, (17/3/2018).
Kawasan jembatan Holtekamp juga punya potensi untuk pengembangan pariwisata. Salah satu yang bisa dikembangkan adalah wisata olah raga ski air.
“Banyak potensi yang bisa dikembangkan di sini. Jembatan ini juga bisa buat sehari-hari untuk membawa kebutuhan barang. jadi harga juga bisa ditekan,” ujarnya.
Untuk diketahui, pada jembatan ini ada dua span atau bentang tengah yang terpasang di jembatan ini. Masing-masing memiliki tinggi 20 meter, lebar 26 meter, panjang 112,5 meter dan berat 2.000 ton.
Basuki mengatakan, yang menarik dari pembangunan jembatan ini adalah bentang utama jembatan buat utuh oleh PT PAL di Surabaya. Pengiriman bentang tersebut dilakukan secara utuh melalui jalur laut.
