JAYAPURA – BERITATERKINI.co.id – Presiden Joko Widodo mengungkapkan sejumlah alasan kenapa sering mengunjungi Papua.
Awalnya Presiden Jokowi mengatakan jika peresmian jembatan Holtekamp atau Youtefa merupakan salah satu simbol penting bagi masyarakat Papua.
“Tanah Papua harus maju seperti daerah lain di Indonesia. Papua adalah surga kecil yang jatuh ke bumi, itu adalah hal yang selalu saya rasakan setiap ke Papua, kalau tak salah hitung saya sudah 13 kali hadir di Papua,” kata Jokowi saat meresmikan operasional Jembatan Youtefa atau Holtekamp, di Jayapura, Papua, pada Senin (28/10/2019).
Jembatan Youtefa yang dibangun sejak 2015, lalu ini menghabiskan biaya sekitar Rp1,8 triliun. Infrastruktur penghubung ini mampu mempersingkat waktu tempuh sekitar 70 menit dari Jayapura ke Distrik Muara Tami, dan Pos Lintas Batas di Skouw.
“Itu menjadi tugas kita bersama memajukan Tanah Papua. Itu mengapa di periode kedua, saya dan Pak Maruf Amin, kunjungan kerja pertama setelah saya dilantik adalah mengunjungi tanah Papua,” tutur mantan wali kota Solo ini.
“Selain itu, kunjungannya berkali-kali ke bumi cenderawasih juga untuk memastikan sendiri bahwa tanah Papua benar-benar dibangun dan tidak dilupakan dalam memajukan Indonesia,” tegasnya.
