Cegah Penyebaran Covid-19, Warga Tionghoa Labuhanbatu Meniadakan Perayaan Cheng Beng

lABUHANBATU – BERITATERKINI.co.id – Warga Tionghoa Labuhanbatu melalui kepanitiaan tradisi Cheng Beng atau ziarah kubur sepakat untuk meniadakan perayaan tradisi tersebut.

Sikap ini dilakukan untuk menyahuti surat edaran Kapolri, Menteri Agama, dan instansi lain, guna mendukung upaya pencegahan penyebaran Covid-19. Hal ini sudah dikoordinasikan dengan kapolres Labuhanbatu AKBP Agus Darojat.

Pernyataan ini disampaikan betsama oleh Ketua Indonesia Tionghoa (Inti) Labuhanbatu Sujian/Acan, Ketua Harian Sosial Budi Agung Ir. Johny, Ketua Yayasan Budha Jayanti, Andi Azis mewakili Pekuburan Perlayuan, Usman Efendi Ketua Pekuburan Pinang Lombang, Safwan Hadi Umri Ketua Pekuburan Bakaranbatu di Rantau Prapat pada Rabu (25/3/2020).

Menurut Acan, Cheng Beng merupakan ziarah kubur sekaligus mempererat tali silaturahmi antar anggota keluarga.

“Selain mengenang dan memuliakan orang tua atau leluhur yang sudah meninggal dunia, tradisi ini juga sebagai sarana berkumpulnya saudara, kerabat, dan anak-anak para warga Tionghoa”, ujar Acan.

Demi untuk kebersamaan khususnya dalam upaya pencegahan Covid-19, mereka sepakat untuk tidak menggelar kegiatan yang berkaitan dengan Cheng Beng ini.

Biasanya Cheng Beng dilaksanakan 10 hari sebelum dan sesudah tanggal 14 April 2020.
