“Terdapat sejumlah elemen yang membuat kami yakin bahwa ketentuan tenggat waktu (karantina wilayah) pada 3 April harus ditunda,” ujar Menteri Perindustrian Stefano Patuanelli dalam sebuah wawancara, Seperti dikutip dari media lidik.id
Italia merupakan negara Barat pertama yang mengambil langkah penutupan negara sejak mendapati kasus infeksi virus corona pada lima pekan lalu, dan penerapannya semakin diperketat seiring angka kasus yang terus bertambah.
Menurut keterangan resmi pemerintah, jumlah kasus positif COVID-19 melonjak sekitar 6.000 kasus menjadi 92.472 kasus, urutan kedua terbanyak di dunia setelah Amerika Serikat.
Sebanyak 889 kasus kematian terjadi dalam 24 jam terakhir, membuat jumlah pasien meninggal dunia mencapai 10.023 kasus. Jumlah itu dianggap bisa semakin tinggi lagi jika tidak ada karantina wilayah.
“Tanpa langkah-langkah ini, kita akan mendapati angka yang jauh lebih besar, layanan kesehatan juga pasti berada dalam situasi yang amat sangat dramatis. Kita akan berada pada situasi di luar kondisi sekarang,” kata Kepala Perlindungan Sipil Angelo Borelli, yang mengumumkan pemutakhiran jumlah kasus COVID-19 .
Sementara itu, Menteri Pendidikan Lucia Azzolina telah mengumumkan penutupan sekolah dan perguruan tinggi yang dimulai pada 5 Maret lalu, akan diperpanjang melewati tanggal 3 April.
