Presiden Joko Widodo meninjau lokasi panen tebu sekaligus meresmikan pabrik gula yang berada di Kabupaten Bombana, Sulawesi Tenggara, dalam kunjungan kerjanya pada Kamis, 22 Oktober 2020.
Presiden menyebut bahwa investasi untuk membuka kebun tebu dan pabrik gula terintegrasi tersebut merupakan sebuah keberanian yang patut diapresiasi.
Pabrik dengan kapasitas produksi yang tergolong besar di Indonesia tersebut dioperasikan oleh PT Prima Alam Gemilang dengan teknologi modern yang didukung otomatisasi.
“Ini adalah sebuah keberanian. Keberanian membuka sebuah investasi dan usaha di tempat ini. Ini yang harus kita apresiasi dan hargai.
Dimulai tiga tahun lalu dan sekarang selesai dan sudah berproduksi,” ujarnya saat memberi sambutan peresmian.
Selain keberanian tersebut, satu hal yang perlu digarisbawahi ialah bahwa investasi tersebut nyatanya mampu menyerap ribuan tenaga kerja lokal.
Dalam operasinya, kebun dan pabrik itu dapat menyerap maksimal 15.000 tenaga kerja.
“Membuka industri, membuka pabrik gula, dan yang paling penting membuka lapangan kerja bagi masyarakat.
Ini poin yang paling penting yang ingin saya garis bawahi,” tuturnya.
“Di kala situasi ekonomi seperti ini semua pengusaha pasti wait and see, berpikir untuk berinvestasi dan membuka usaha baru.
Keputusan ini patut kita hargai,” imbuh Presiden.
Dalam sambutannya, Presiden menjelaskan bahwa saat ini kebutuhan komoditas gula di Indonesia mencapai 5,8 juta ton per tahun.
Dari jumlah tersebut, baru sebanyak 2,1 juta ton yang mampu diproduksi di dalam negeri. Sedangkan sisanya, masih harus mengandalkan impor.
“Sehingga pendirian pabrik gula di Bombana ini sekali lagi patut kita hargai karena nanti mengurangi impor.
Artinya bisa memperbanyak devisa negara dan memperkuat neraca transaksi berjalan kita,” kata Presiden.
Kepala Negara dengan didampingi oleh Menteri Pertanian Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Menteri Perindustrian Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Sekretaris Kabinet Pramono Anung, dan Gubernur Sulawesi Tenggara Ali Mazi terlebih dahulu meninjau lokasi panen tebu yang berada di areal pabrik terintegrasi.
Selanjutnya, Presiden juga turut meninjau pabrik gula dan gudang penyimpanan yang ada.
Pengerjaan konstruksi pabrik gula yang diresmikan Presiden ini dimulai pada awal 2017 silam dan mulai berproduksi pada Agustus tahun 2020 ini.
Kapasitas pengolahan tebu yang mampu dilakukan pabrik tersebut ialah sebanyak 8.000 TCD (ton cane per day) yang mampu ditingkatkan hingga 12.000 TCD.
Dengan kapasitas tersebut, pabrik mampu memproduksi gula kristal putih sebanyak 800 hingga 1.200 ton per hari. (Red/Aj)
