Hari Raya Saraswati yang datang setiap 6 bulan sekali berdasar perhitungan kalender Bali (210 hari), atau pada Saniscara Umanis Watugunung hari raya ini sangat penting bagi umat Hindu. Tahun 2022 ini Hari Raya Saraswati jatuh pada 22 Oktober 2022.
Hari raya ini sangat penting bagi umat Hindu, karena dalam agamaHindu, Hari Saraswati merupakan hari turunnya ilmu pengetahuan sekaligus penghormatan terhadap dewi pengetahuan yaitu Dewi Saraswati.
Secara etimologi kata Saraswati berasal dari kata “Saras” yang memiliki arti mata air, terus menerus mengalir tidak pernah habis, dan “Wati” berarti yang memiliki.
Jadi, Dewi Saraswati memiliki arti Dewi yang memiliki pengetahuan yang tidak pernah habis. Dewi Saraswati merupakan Dewi yang menurunkan ilmu pengetahuan kepada manusia yang berguna bagi diri sendiri, masyarakat, bangsa dan negara dalam menjalani kehidupan.
Ini menunjukkan bahwa begitu tingginya penghargaan Agama Hindu terhadap ilmu pengetahuan, dan ilmu pengetahuan itu justru disucikan. Dalam kehidupan berbangsa dan bernegara pun ilmu pengetahuan menjadi pondasi dasar yang dapat memajukan negara dan kemudian tentu saja mensejahterakan umat manusia.
Dalam UUD 45 ditegaskan bahwa negara memiliki tanggung jawab mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa, tentunya melalui pendidikan yang tidak terpisahkan dengan ilmu pengetahuan itu, bahkan pemerintah mengalokasikan anggaran untuk pendidikan sangat besar, yakni 20%, dengan maksud menciptakan rasa keadilan dalam pendidikan untuk masyarakat.
Dengan anggaran dan perhatian pemerintah yang sangat besar terhadap dunia pendidikan, tapi justru kita sering mendengar dari masyarakat bahwa pendidikan itu sangat mahal, bahkan penulis sendiripun merasakan seperti itu.
Saya sampai berpikir, kalau saya bersekolah pada jaman sekarang, bisa dipastikan tidak mungkin bisa sekolah di fakultas kedokteran, apalagi jadi dokter spesialis. Ini melihat kondisi orang tua saya yang hanya seorang guru setingkat SLTP, apalagi saudara saya banyak, dan ibu yang tidak bekerja.
Sehingga tidak berlebihan dikatakan oleh masyarakat bahwa pendidikan hanya dimiliki dan dikuasai oleh orang yang mampu atau orang kaya, sementara yang kurang mampu yang punya harapan untuk mewujudkan cita-citanya akan tetap menjadi cita-cita saja, tanpa pernah terwujud.
Sementara sekolah yang ada, khususnya sekolah kejuruan, dan perguruan tinggi, di satu sisi berlomba-lomba mendapatkan siswa dan mahasiswa sebanyak-banyaknya, tapi tidak dibarengi dengan penciptaan lapangan pekerjaan. Sehingga sekolah akan melahirkan lebih banyak pengangguran-pengangguran intlektual. Ini adalah kondisi riil yang kita lihat di masyarakat.
Saya masih ingat pesan orang tua, “Hanya dengan belajar kamu bisa mengubah nasib”. Ini pesan yang selalu saya ingat dan selalu saya pakai sebagai pedoman hidup, betapa pentingnya arti pendidikan itu untuk kehidupan kita. Dan saya yakin semuanya akan sependapat dengan hal itu.
Mengingat mahalnya pendidikan saat ini serta susahnya lapangan pekerjaan setelah menamatkan sekolahnya, tentunya ini menjadi masalah kita bersama saat ini.
Di samping itu, ddunia pendidikan kita masih perlu banyak pembenahan, khususnya dalam budaya membaca dan menulis. Budaya membaca dan menulis merupakan bagian yang sangat penting dalam pendidikan.
Berdasarkan survey yang dilakukan PISA (Program For International Student Asessment) yang dirilis Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) tahun 2019, tingkat literasi Indonesia menempati posisi 62 dari 70 negara di dunia yang menjadi target survey.
Untuk memajukan dunia pendidikan tentunya tidak bisa dipisahkan dengan budaya literasi tersebut. Terhadap permasalahan ini, sudah pasti pemangku kebijakan memiliki strategi dan inovasi dengan menciptakan tempat, waktu dan sarana sehingga membaca dan menulis itu menjadi hal yang sangat menyenangkan, dan akan berubah menjadi kebiasaan yang berakhir menjadi sebuah budaya.
Masalah pendidikan ini bukan semata tanggung jawab pemerintah, tapi tanggung jawab kita bersama termasuk komunitas yang terkecil yaitu keluarga. Seperti pernyataan, “Sekolah pertama anak ada dalam kandungan ibunya, dan guru pertama adalah ibunya”.
Di sinilah peran keluarga, dalam hal ini si ibu, sangat penting sekali untuk mempersiapkan kuaalitas anak sedini mungkin semenjak dalam kandungan, karena sejatinya apa yang dipikirkan, dirasakan, diucapkan dan dilakukan ibunya direkam oleh anak yang ada dalam kandungan.
Perraaan ibu sangaaat peenting sehingga si anak nantinya bisa memiliki kesenangan dengan dunia literasi. Untuk itulah, saat ibu hamil untuk membiasakan dirinya berprilaku yang baik, positif seperti membiasakan untuk membaca apa saja yang positif, ya artikel, koran, buku dan sebagaiinyaa.
Dan kebiasaan-kebiasaan ini tentunya akan bisa menginisiasi anak yang masih dalam kandungan sehingga kelak kalau sudah lahir maka anak tersebut akan memiliki kesukaan membaca, dan tentunya ke depannya membaca akan menjadi sebuah kebiasaan bahkan menjadi budaya membaca di keluarga itu.
