Nasionalisme Sultan Serdang Dalam Kenanganku

Bangsa yang besar adalah bangsa yang tidak melupakan sejarah. Bangsa yang menghargai jasa pejuang dan pahlawan. Di depan pintu kuburan di sebuah desa di Tanjung Morawa pernah ku baca tulisan “Turut sedih kehilanganmu, merasa bangga atas jasamu”.

Sebagai generasi penerus bangsa, aku yang lahir 1955 hanya bisa mengenang Sultan Sulaiman Syaiful Alamsyah lewat kenangan itu aku mencintainya. Lewat kenangan itu pula aku mendoakannya. Al-fatiha, semoga arwah beliau husnul khotimah, dan diganjar Allah dengan syurga jannah.

Kenangan adalah perasaan yang tidak bisa dihapus dari hati seseorang. Kenangan jua yang tidak mati. Jadi, jika mencintai seseorang, kenang-kenanglah dia kapan saja, dimana saja. Mungkin itu yang mengilhami penyair Chairil Anwar dalam sajaknya Karawang Bekasi dimana didalamnya ada kata “kenang-kenanglah kami yang berserak antara Karawang Bekasi”.

Emakku Hj. Sanikem alm, lahir dan tumbuh di Bendang, di daerah persawahan di seputar Istana Kota Galuh Perbaungan. Dia yang sering bercerita saat aku masih kecil. Betapa indah, rukun dan damai rakyat kesultanan Serdang. Bumi yang telah gemah ripah loh jinawi tergambar dan menjadi sarana budi pekerti rakyat.

Alm emakku yang selalu bercerita betapa baik Tuanku Sultan. Ceria rakyat dihati besar, atau jelang hari raya. Kakek yang terlibat mengurus ternak di Pantai Cermin. Mbah Godek saudara sepupu kakek nenek yang ahli jagal untuk potong kerbau tanpa bantuan orang lain. Kakek Godek sendiri mampu menjatuhkan kerbau dan menyembelih.

Ada lagi kakek Sajiman yang khusus mengurus Kuda Sultan. Kakek buyut kami ini diundang saudaranya yang sudah lebih dahulu datang ke Deli. Asal kakek di Parakan Jawa Tengah Kabupaten Wonosobo. Buyut Sajiman inilah urusan Kuda dan depan kerajaan Sultan Serdang.

Dibayangkan, Istana Sultan Serdang yang megah sesekali dikunjungi oleh keturunan keluarga kami. Mengunjungi kebun binatang istana Kota Galuh. Taman hewan terlengkap yang pernah ada di Sumatera saat itu.

Timbul rasa bangga, bahwa leluhur kami ikut dalam telenovela perjalanan Sultan Serdang. Meski secuil, hanya sebagai “abdi dalem”, tapi kenangan betapa baik dan agungnya Sultan Serdang dalam memori emakku cukup bagiku untuk memberi penghargaan, penghormatan, dan doa ikhlas untuknya dan para zuriatnya.

Dari penutur, dan penulis tentang Sultan Serdang saya berani menilai bahwa nasionalisme Sultan Serdang adalah Paripurna. Dia hidup di rentang waktu 1865-1946 masa penjajahan Belanda. Catatan Belanda yang negatif tentang beliau jadi bukti bahwa dia adalah pejuang bangsa. Sosok Sultan Serdang yang selalu di intip intelijen Belanda sebagai bukti nyata.

Beliau mangkat diawal kemerdekaan 13 Oktober 1946. Masa situasi kritis yang dikenal sebagai “revolusi sosial”. Masa sandyakala. Keluarga dicerai-beraikan dalam pengasingan. Ada yang disekitar Pematang Raya dan Kampung Merdeka Tanah Karo. Namun penghormatan terakhir pemakaman beliau dilakukan dengan upacara militer. Upacara itu diantar ribuan rakyat dengan tangis dan kesedihan yang dalam. Sejak mangkat beliau diberi gelar “Marhom Perbaungan”.

Aku menjabat sebagai Wakil Bupati Serdang Bedagai 2010-2015. Saat itu beliau mendapat penghargaan sebagai penerima Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana (2011). Berbahagia aku ikut dalam proses pengusulannya. Bahkan ikut menjemput kedatangan piagam penghargaan di Polonia Medan. Bersama ahli waris Kesultanan Serdang kami bersama di VIP Room Bandara Polonia ketika itu.

Akhirnya sebagai bangsa yang besar. Sebagai insan yang ingin menjunjung tinggi harkat martabat orang mulia. Berdasar pula pada lintasan karya semasa hidup. Pembangunan pertanian, pendidikan, seni budaya, kesehatan, dan silaturahmi kemanusiaan yang luas, kami berharap Sultan Sulaiman Syaiful Alamsyah dapat dinobatkan sebagai Pahlawan Nasional.

Wawasan kebangsaan, penghargaan kepada suku bangsa rumpun Melayu tidak diragukan. Kehadiran suku Jawa, Banjar, Karo, Batak timur, dan lainnya di tanah bertuah Serdang adalah prakarsa beliau. Sejarah harus diungkap, misteri harus dibuka. Keteladanan harus dikembangkan. Kajian, penelitian, seminar, semestinya digelar. Ahli sejarah dari generasi milenial harus tampil.

Hingga sekarang pertanyaanku pada alm emak belum terjawab. Kenapa istana orang besar di Kota Galuh di bumi hangus? Apa kesalahan Sultan kepada rakyat? Siapa yang menjadi aktor yang tidak bertanggung jawab? Hingga hari ini aku tak pernah dapat jawaban dari alm emak. Pun, orang lain di Perbaungan jarang mengungkap masalah ini.

Ku akhiri, pulau pandan jauh ditengah, dibalik pulau si angsa dua, hancur badan dikandung tanah, budi yang baik dikenang juga.
