Presiden Jokowi didamping Mentan Syahrul Yasin Limpo meninjau kawasan lumbung pangan baru di Humbang Hasundutan, Sumut, Selasa (27/10).
Presiden Joko Widodo mengatakan di Sumatra Utara (Sumut) akan dikembangkan kawasan lumbung pangan (food estate) seluas 30.000 hektare.
Kawasan tersebut terletak di berbagai daerah yaitu Kabupaten Humbang Hasundutan, Kabupaten Tapanuli Utara, Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah, dan Kabupaten Pakpak Bharat.
“Di sini ada luas lahan 60.000 hektare, dan yang akan ditanam, yang akan digunakan untuk food estate adalah seluas 30.000 hektare.
Ini tersebar, tetapi ini tetap di Provinsi Sumatra Utara,” ujar Presiden usai meninjau perkembangan pembangunan kawasan lumbung pangan di Humbang Hasundutan, Selasa (27/10) siang.
Lumbung pangan yang tengah dikembangkan tersebut, imbuhnya, akan ditanami komoditas pangan berupa kentang, bawang merah, dan bawang putih.
“Insyaallah nanti, ini sudah dimulai penanamannya, akan kita lihat hasilnya kira-kira nanti 2 bulan sampai 2,5 bulan,” ujar Presiden.
Indonesia memiliki dua tempat yang akan dikembangkan menjadi lumbung pangan nasional, yaitu di Sumatra Utara dan Kalimantan Tengah.
Berbeda dengan di Sumut, lumbung pangan di Kalimantan Tengah akan ditanami komoditas pangan padi dan singkong.
“Sudah dua kali saya ke Kalimantan Tengah, di sana akan di bangun food estate khusus untuk padi dan untuk singkong,” kata Kepala Negara.
Lumbung pangan yang tengah dikembangkan di dua provinsi ini, imbuhnya, akan dijadikan contoh bagi pengembangan di provinsi lain.
“Saya rasa, kita ingin melihat model bisnisnya seperti apa, proses bisnis yang akan dilakukan di sini seperti apa.
Hitung-hitungannya sudah ada, ini akan menjadi contoh untuk provinsi-provinsi lain yang ingin membuat food estate,” pungkas Presiden.
Dalam kunjungan kerja ke Sumatra Utara, Presiden antara lain didampingi Menko Bidang Kemaritiman dan Investasi Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Menteri Pertanian Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Menteri Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Siti Nurbaya, Menteri Sekretaris Negara Pratikno, dan Gubernur Sumatra Utara Edy Rahmayadi.
