Dalam captionnya, Amsakar mengatakan main catur itu dilakukan dalam rangka untuk membangun kedekatan dan kebersamaan dengan warga. Sementara itu akun Facebook Kelana Jaya Putra menjelaskan Amsakar main catur di Lapangan Kedai Selingsing, Batam Center pada Kamis (27/07/2023) sore.

Ditanya terkait klaim Amasakar tersebut, warga Batam Center Khorul Bahri malah menanggapinya negatif. Khoirul mengatakan sebelumya Amsakar jarang mau membaur dengan masyarakat seperti itu.

“Dulu-dulu setahu saya Pak Amsakar jarang mau santai-santai dengan warga begitu. Baik itu main catur atau hanya sekadar ngopi-ngopi. Tapi belakangan ini saya perhatikan beliau aktif banget. Mungkin lagi ada kepentingan ya,” kata Khoirul, Sabtu (29/7).

Khoirul menduga Amasakar sedang mencari perhatian warga demi kepentingannya maju di Pemilihan Walikota Batam (Pilwako) Batam 2024.

Khorul mengingatkan, saat ini rakyat sudah cerdas. Tahu mana tokoh yang benar-benar merakyat dan turun ke bawah, tahu mana yang hanya pamer setiap menjelang pilkada.

Dia pun menyarankan Amsakar untuk fokus kerja saja ketimbang pamer seakan-akan merakyat sampai melupakan tugasnya sebagai orang nomor dua di Batam.
