Ide Baru Dari Mahasiswa UIR, Lolos Pengajuan Proposal PKM Peneliti, Minyak Jelantah Sebagai Alternatif Formulasi Pestisida Ramah Lingkungan
PEKANBARU, Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM) dari Program DIKTI. Mahasiswa Universitas Islam riau. yaitu Ummatul Fajri,Widya Yunasa & Yovi Veron Setiawan dengan Judul PKM “Pemanfaatan minyak jelantah sebagai alternatif surfaktan sebagai formulasi pestisida ramah lingkungan” berhasil mendapatkan pendanaan dari Direktorat Pembelajaran dan Kemahasiswaan (Belmawa) Dikti Kemendikbud.
Rektor Universitas Islam Riau PROF. DR. H. SYAFRINALDI, S.H., M.C..L menyampaika selamat dan apresiasi yang setinggi-tingginya kepada seluruh mahasiswa yang berhasil meraih prestasi pada kompetisi ini.
Menurut ketua peneliti Ummatul Fajri & anggota Widya Yunasa & Yovi veron. Hal yang mendasar saya mengangkat judul pemanfaatan minyak jelantah karena menurut saya pada umumnya minyak jelantah hanya dibuang ke lingkungak setelah digunakan terlebih pada ibu rumah tangga yang menggunakan minyak jelantah secara ber ulang karen akan menakibatkan masalah kesehatan bagi konsumen nya.
Dari pemikiran ini saya mencoba melakuka research terhadap penggunaan minyak jelantah. Minyak jelantah yang berasal dari bahan organik yaitu buah kelapa sawit berdasarkan data penelitian sebelumnya minyak jelantah hanya dimanfaatkan menjadi biodisel dan surfaktan(bahan pembuatan sabun).
Sehingga dari pada terbuang sia-sia minyak jelantah dimanfaatkan lagi, Karena Menurut data The International Council On Clean Transportation 2019 ada 1.638 juta potensi pengumpulan minyak jelantah di Indonesia pada data tersebut berasal dari limbah rumah tangga yang ada di perkotaan dan sekitar 157 juta berasal dari hotel, restoran di perkotaan.
Hal ini akan menjadi bermanfaat bagi lingkungan, serta minyak jelantah tersebut bernilai ekonomi untuk formulasi pestisida ramah lingkungan yang dapat digunakan dalam bidang pertanian.
Menyikapi keberhasilan tersebut Ketua Koordinator kegiatan Pekan Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM) Universitas Islam Riau tahun 2020 dr.Raihanatu Binqalbi Ruzain, M.Kes mengatakan bahwa penerima PKM 5 Bidang dari Belmawa Dikti Kemdikbud tahun ini memengalami peningkatan dari tahun lalu.
“Alhamdulillah tahun ini untuk pertama kalinya jumlah proposal yang lolos untuk didanai oleh Belmawa mengalami peningkatan yang sangat signifikan, bahkan bisa saya katakan ini adalah rekor untuk kampus Universitas Islam Riau”. katanya.
Dekan fakultas Teknik Dr. Eng. Muslim, MT memberikan apreasi kepada mahasiswa/i. Beliau menyapaikan Semoga sukses selalu Fakultas Teknik Universitas Islam Riau & tidak lupa pula Ketua prodi Teknik Perminyakan sekaligus dosen pembimbing dalam penelitian ini Novia Rita.,ST.MT mengucapkan selamat serta kepada mahasiswa/i yang berhasil mendapatkan pendanaan.
Saya selaku ketua prodi memberikan support kepada seluruh mahasiswa Universitas Islam Riau Fakultas Teknik untuk dapat berprestasi walaupun kondisi pendemi Covid19. Penelitian akan sedang dilakukan dalam rentang waktu 1 bulan. Melalui penelitian ini semua berharap bisa lolos seleksi Pimnas yang akan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 10 oktober mendatang.
