Lolos PKM kemendikbud, 5 mahasiswa UIR menemukan solusi meningkatkan produktivitas madu galo-galo, dengan teknologi sistem Polikultur dan teknik Gracuri

Pekanbaru- Direktorat Jenderal Pembelajaran dan Kemahasiswaan melakukan berbagai hal untuk menumbuh kembangkan inovasi dan kreativitas mahasiswa. Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa merupakan salahsatu implementasi Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi. Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM) yang diluncurkan oleh Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi pada tahun 2001 merupakan salah satu upaya untuk menumbuhkan, mewadahi, dan mewujudkan ide kreatif serta inovatif mahasiswa.

5 mahasiswa Universitas islam Riau sukses mendapatkan dana hibah PKM dari Direktorat Pembelajaran dan Kemahasiswaan (Belmawa) Dikti Kemendikbud RI tahun 2020, dalam program kegiatan mahasiswa (PKM) 5 bidang. Didampingi oleh seorang dosen fakultas pertanian sisca vaulina, SP.,MP, dan 5 Mahasiwa yang tergabung dalam tim PKM T 2020 fakultas pertanian adalah Muhammad Arif (2018), Lilis Juleha (2018), Sufiyan Ardi (2018), Arizal Effendi (2018), Surya Pratama Putra (2017), dengan judul PKM T “Peningkatan Produktivitas Madu Galo-Galo Dengan Sistem Polikultur Pada Kelompok Madu Galo-Galo Kuok Lestari Di Desa Kuok”.
Rektor Universitas Islam Riau Prof. DR. Syafrinaldi, S.H, M.C.L mengucapkan selamat dan mengapresiasi kepada seluruh tim PKM yang berhasil dalam meraih prestasi kompetisi yang sangat membanggakan UIR ini.

“ Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa ini sangat berdampak positif, bukan hanya untuk meningkatkan kreatifitas mahasiswa dan menciptakan inovasi baru tapi juga bermanfaat bagi masyarakat. Kami akan memberikan yang terbaik untuk mensukseskan program ini agar dapat menjadi contoh dan membantu masyarakat” ungkap sisca vaulina selaku dosen pembimbing kegiatan ini.

Saat ini produk madu sangat digemari dikalangan masyarakat karena memiliki sejuta manfaat. Prospek pasar madu galo-galo sangat menjanjikan, Selain sebagai minuman, madu juga dilirik oleh dunia industri kecantikan. Akan tetapi, ketersediaan pakan lebah madu galo-galo menjadi masalah utama kelompok madu galo-galo kuok lestari yang menyebabkan produksi madu berfluktuasi.

Produksi madu sangat ditentukan oleh ketersediaan pakan. Penyebab minimnya pakan lebah madu galo-galo dikarenakan kurangnya pengetahuan kelompok madu galo-galo dalam melakukan perbanyakan tanaman. Apabila ini berlangsung dalam jangka waktu lama maka akan mengancam keberadaan lebah galo-galo yang merupakan kearifan lokal desa kuok.

“Melalui program ini kami memberikan iptek dalam teknik perbanyakan tanaman guna menyediakan pakan lebah madu galo-galo setiap hari yang saat ini menjadi permasalahan utama bagi kelompok madu galo-galo kuok lestari” ujar Muhammad arif selaku ketua tim program ini.

Polikultur adalah metode pola penanaman lebih dari satu jenis tanaman pada lahan yang sama, dengan tujuan untuk mengatur siklus pembungaan agar pakan tersedia setiap hari. Pola penanaman ini dapat diwujudkan melalui perbanyakan dengan teknik Grafting Cutting Lestari. Grafting adalah teknik perbanyakan tanaman melalui cangkok belah, sedangkan cutting adalah teknik perbanyakan tanaman dengan cara stek. Setelah dilakukan perbanyakan, tanaman kemudian diletakkan pada naungan untuk menjaga kelembaban tanaman. Teknik perbanyakan ini lebih mudah diaplikasikan oleh petani dan memiliki tingkat keberhasilan tumbuh yang tinggi.

Dijelaskan oleh tim, dengan menggunakan system polikultur dapat memenuhi kebutuhan pakan lebah madu galo-galo karena polikultur memungkinkan menanam lebih dari satu jenis tanaman seperti tanaman hias dan tanaman buah-buahan, melalui teknik gracuri akan meningkatkan persentase tumbuh sehingga dapat meminimalkan banyaknya bibit yang terbuang akibat kegagalan dalam melakukan perbanyakan tanaman.

Teknik gracuri ini telah terbukti memiliki persentase tumbuh yang tinggi dan mudah diaplikasikan, sehingga ini akan sangat membantu dalam menyediakan pakan lebah madu guna meningkatkan produksi lebah madu galo-galo. Kendala yang dihadapi adalah Program ini dilakukan pada saat pandemic covid-19, sehingga tim melaksanakan program ini kepada mitra secara daring menggunakan aplikasi zoom. (Rudi/**)
